Exotic Designer Series Flooring

The Exotic Designer series offers a striking range of exotic woods from Africa, South America and Europe.

All woods are wide plank, solid 3/4" unfinished. Grades available shown below. Lengths range from minimum 6’ length, up to 16’ maximum, subject to availability at time of order. All species available 4"& wider, depending on species, up to 9.25". Exact widths subject to availability at time of order. Narrower widths are also available.

Australian Cypress

Colour ranging from honey gold, cream, to brown, with dark knots, suitable for rustic setting.

Bloodwood

Beautiful dense wood, very red in colour. Exhibits wide range of colour variation, from pale orange to deep blood red. Undergoes a medium degree of colour change from pale orangey reds to a deep dark red as it ages.
Grade: Sel&Btr

Bubinga

Also known as African Rosewood, a beautiful dense uniform grain and coloured hardwood with a rose-coloured background and darker purple striping. In the quartered figure, exhibits considerable "flame" figure; in flat sawn, offers "rosewood" graining. Undergoes a medium degree of colour change, from a pinkish rose colour when freshly milled to a burgundy red colour when fully aged.

Cumaru

At first, red-brown or purple-brown with light yellow-brown or purple streaks. After exposure, turns uniform light brown or yellow-brown. Fine texture, interlocked grain. Dramatic shading mellows as floors matures.

Ipe

Known also as ironwood or Brazilian Walnut, a striking species that ranges from olive brown to blackish colour. Originating in South America, Ipe is a unique, natural material that can be used both indoors and outdoors. Superior strength, stability, durability, ideally suited for a wide variety of uses, including decking.

Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) - Flat Sawn

Salmon red to orange-brown heartwood, becoming russet or reddish brown when seasoned, often marked with dark streaks. Interlocked grain with medium to course texture. Extremely hard and durable.

Similar to Jatoba - Flat Sawn but with straight grain.

Makore (African Cherry) - Flat Sawn

Heartwood ranges from pink or cream sapwood with heartwood ranging from pink or light reddish brown to a rich red brown or grayish tinge. Lustrous, straight grained, sometimes interlocked, fine grain, attractive mottled figure, with occasional dark streaks.

Makore (African Cherry) - Rift/Quartered

Similar to Makore - Flat Sawn but with straight grain.

Purple Heart

Heartwood is brown when freshly cut, turning deep purple to purplish brown over time. Straight grain with medium to fine texture.

Santos Mahogany

Dark reddish brown wood with striped figuring in quarter sawn selections. Texture is even and very fine.
Grade: Sel&Btr

Sapele - Flat Sawn

A beautiful, solid, medium hardwood from West and East Africa. Heartwood is medium to dark reddish-brown with lighter streaks. Pinkish red when freshly cut, darkening to a rich red-brown.

Teak - Flat Sawn

Dark golden brown to yellow-brown heartwood with lighter color sapwood. Straight course grain with varied texture.

Wenge - Flat Sawn

Deep black and brown coloured wood with dense, straight grain.

All species are premium grade, but material is product of the run and allows for minor defects inherent in each species, including, but not limited to, occasional knots and colour variation.
