North American Designer Series Flooring

With the North American Designer Series, get traditional, solid, beautiful flooring from the forests of North America.

All woods are wide plank, solid 3/4" unfinished. Grades available shown below. Lengths range from minimum 6’ length, up to 16’ maximum, subject to availability at time of order. All species available 4"& wider, depending on species, up to 9.25". Exact widths subject to availability at time of order. Narrower widths are also available.

Species:

     

Ash - Calico

Light coloured sapwood and light brown and pale yellow heartwood streaked with brown. Straight grained with a coarse uniform texture. Bold, straight, moderately open grain with occasional way figuring. Flat sawn boards can show strong grain and colour contrast, hence the name "calico".
Grades: Sel&Btr

Ash - Quarter Cut

Similar to Ash-Calico but quarter cut, pale yellow with consistent grain, minimal dark heartwood.

Cherry - Flat Sawn

Rich red to reddish brown heartwood that darkens with exposure to light. Creamy white sapwood. Fine uniform straight grain, smooth texture, and may naturally contain brown pith flecks and small gum pockets.
Grades: Sel&Btr - Heartwood only or mixed heartwood/sapwood

Cherry - Quarter Cut

Similar to flat-sawn cherry but quarter cut with straight grain.

Hard Maple - Natural

Creamy white sapwood with red brown tinge and heartwood ranging from light to dark reddish brown. Close fine textured grain that's usually straight though sometimes can show curly, "birds-eye" figures. A hard and heavy wood with good strength properties and excellent resistance to abrasion and wear.

Hard Maple - Select White

Similar to Hard Maple - Natural, yet selected to show uniform white sapwood only.

Hickory - Calico

Hickory heartwood is tan or reddish; sapwood is white to cream, with fine brown lines. Close, rough-textured grain. Hickory provides a natural and unique combination of strength and hardness.
Grade: Sel&Btr

Red Oak - Flat Sawn

White to light brown sapwood and pinkish reddish brown heartwood. Similar to white oak, with a less pronounced figure and smaller rays. The wood is mostly straight grained, with a coarse texture.
Grade: Sel&Btr

Red Oak - Quarter Cut

Similar to Red Oak - Flat Sawn but Quarter cut, straight grain and fleck running perpendicular to the grain.

Red Oak - Rift Cut

Similar to Red Oak - Flat Sawn but Rift Cut, straight grain without fleck.

White Oak - Flat Sawn

Light coloured sapwood and light to dark brown heartwood. Mostly straight grained with a medium to coarse texture.
Grade: Sel&Btr

White Oak - Quarter Cut

Similar to White Oak - Flat Sawn but Quarter Cut, straight grain with fleck running perpendicular to the grain.
Grade: Sel&Btr

Similar to White Oak - Flat Sawn but Rift Cut, straight grain without fleck.
Grade: Sel&Btr

Walnut - Flat Sawn

Heartwood ranges from a deep, rich dark brown to a purplish black. Sapwood is nearly white to tan. Often a big difference between heartwood and sapwood colour, offering exciting design opportunities. Straight and open grain with some burled or curly grain. Moderately dense and very strong, less dent-resistant than oak.
Grade: Sel&Btr, Character (allowing sapwood)

NOTES: Exact pricing dependent upon quantity, width, length, and lead time requirements. Pricing may also change without notice due to market pricing at time of inquiry. All species are premium grade, but material is product of the run and allows for minor defects inherent in each species, including, but not limited to, occasional knots and colour variation. Special orders may be possible for additional species not listed, please inquire.
