New to British Columbia and exclusively offered by Mager Custom Cut Lumber & Flooring, the West Coast Designer Woods Series offers contractors and flooring retailers a full range of world-class, indigenous West Coast Woods and the chance to support local suppliers of these beautiful woods. All woods are wide plank, solid 3/4" unfinished. Grades available shown below. Lengths range from minimum 2’ length, up to 16’ maximum, subject to availability at time of order. Depending on species, widths up to 9.25" may be available. Exact widths subject to availability at time of order. Narrower widths are also available.

Species:

Alder

Alder is white when freshly cut and quickly changes to light brown with a yellow or reddish tinge, with no visible boundary between sap and heartwood. A fairly grained medium density hardwood with uniform texture. Can be stained to appear similar to cherry.
Grades: Sel&Btr, Character&Btr

Arbutus (Madrone)

Also known as Madrone, this light reddish-brown wood is a compact, tough wood with straight or irregular grain and a smooth even texture. Stains and polishes to a high finish.
Grades: Character & Btr

Douglas Fir - Knotty

Light rosy colour set off by remarkably straight and handsome grain pattern. Offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, high specific gravity, superior dimensional stability and moderate decay resistance. Tightly knotted and close grained, adding the bonus of beauty to structural strength.
Grades: Select tight knot

Douglas Fir – Vertical Grain

Our specialty: a tight grained, light rosy coloured wood, sought after for its natural beauty and dimensional stability.

Knotty Pine - Western White

Knots range in size from small pin knots to larger distinctive knots. Blondish-white with slight reddish tinges.

Western Birch – Select White

Creamy white sapwood, moderately hard, gives a warm luster when finished.

Western Maple

Also known as Pacific Coast Maple, a fast growing true maple, which prospers in the Pacific Northwest and known for its uniform colour and texture. Pale pinkish-brown to almost white. No marked difference between heartwood and sapwood. Fine grain, similar to birch and cherry in growth ring contrast.
Grades: Sel&Btr, Character&Btr

Yew - Pacific

Yew has medium hardness and weight, is tough and very springy. Light colour and plain coarse grain ranging from light cream to red to purple. Some wood contains dense, twisted, dark grain ranging from purple to almost black.
Grades: Character&Btr
